Greetings to everyone in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The last two months have just flown by. I have spent the whole time in Terekeka. The Lord has been faithful…he helped me keep my sanity. It has been a physically demanding couple of months, but the Lord has kept me strong and healthy.
The Terekeka project has been under way since about the middle of January. It has been a slow but steady work. I have about ten local Mundari men working for me on a daily basis. We have a large supply of sand and rocks stockpiled for the rainy season. It is very difficult to get around during the rainy season. Some of the jobs that we are doing are: making blocks, digging and pouring footings for some of the buildings, laying blocks on the storage building, clearing land, and hauling water.
At the end of the day nothing is more refreshing than jumping in the Nile River. I have two little boys, Gido and Loko, that always swim with me. They are my little helpers-side kicks. They never seem to grow tired of swimming in the Nile. They are a blast!
We had two MercyWorks YWAM (Youth with a Mission) teams come out to Terekeka, some did medical work and some helped with the building. They were a huge blessing not only to the locals but for me as well. After they left there was no other kawajas or white people around for fifty miles. The nurses and doctors on the team treated about 1,200 people. The people that helped with the building never complained, no matter what job they had. Some days it even reached as hot as 125 degrees in the sun. They also showed the Jesus film in Bari. There were two churches that they showed it in, and each time there was a big turnout of people. The priests and bishops said anytime they wanted to show Christian movies, they are more than welcome. The people are very open to us sharing the gospel there.
As of right now I am in Yei, but Thursday May 1st, mom and I will be traveling to Bor to look at the new site for our next orphanage. We will be flying to Juba and driving with many government officials, then from there I will go back to Terekeka till about the beginning of June and then come back to Yei. But while I am away the building will continue. I took my top guy from Yei and put him in charge up there. Then I will be leaving Yei on June 26th for the US. Then I will be there for three months. I would be honored and blessed to share the many ways God has been working here in Sudan and my life as well. If you would like me to share what God is doing in Terekeka in your church or Sunday school or any other capacity please let me know as soon as possible.
Praises to prayer:
-Praises for good health and traveling mercies to and from Terekeka.
-The locals were very open and receptive to us being there and to the gospel.
Prayer requests:
-For traveling mercies for the trip to Bor and God’s hand and direction in that future ministry.
-For doors to be open in Sudan for adoption.
-For continual good health throughout the next couple of months.
-For speaking engagements to open up and financial needs to be met.
God bless,
Lance
